Working across London

We design, make and fit furniture in homes across all 32 London boroughs and the City of London. Every job starts with a design visit to your home, where we measure the room and talk through the design, followed by a written quote. The furniture is made in our workshop and then fitted by us.

Working in London homes means planning for more than the room itself. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs, so a van needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict stopping rules. The ULEZ covers every London borough, and the Congestion Charge zone covers central London, including the whole City of London. It helps to tell us about parking and access at the design visit.

Many Londoners live in flats: converted terraces, mansion blocks, post-war estates and newer purpose-built blocks. Furniture made in a workshop has to get up the stairs, round the landings, into the lift and through the doors, so we measure the route as well as the room and make the furniture in sections to suit. If your building has lift booking rules, an entry system or a concierge, let us know. Leaseholders should check whether their lease needs the landlord’s consent before furniture is fixed to the walls.

Period homes bring their own details. Victorian and Edwardian terraces are common across much of inner London and many outer areas, usually with chimney breasts and alcoves in the main rooms. Their walls are rarely flat or square and floors are often out of level, so fitted furniture is scribed to the walls and set level. Outer London also has large areas of interwar semi-detached and terraced houses, each with their own alcoves, bays and stairs to plan around.
