Our fitted wardrobes across Tower Hamlets
Some bedrooms suit wardrobes that wrap around the bed, with tall cupboards either side and storage bridging over the headboard. Others work around a window. The layout is planned so the room does not feel boxed in. Typical reasons to get in touch are mismatched bedroom furniture and a tight bedroom where doors get in the way; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days.
- You describe the bedroom and the storage you need.
- We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers, with your clothes in mind.
- We put the design, materials and finish into a written quote. It lists what’s inside each wardrobe as well as the doors.
- Once you’re happy, the wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, ready to use.
Quotes in Tower Hamlets
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Arranging a design visit
A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Homes across Tower Hamlets and their bedrooms
Tower Hamlets has bedrooms of every shape, from bay-fronted rooms in older houses to tight rooms in modern flats. The design follows the room, not a catalogue, with the inside laid out around what you keep.
Homes built since 2000 make up about 45% of the housing in Tower Hamlets, with about 20% built between 1973 and 1999, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. More than a third of the homes in Tower Hamlets (about 45%) were built since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Newer homes often have compact bedrooms with plasterboard stud walls, so fitted pieces use the full height and are fixed into the studs. About 81% of households in Tower Hamlets live in purpose-built flats, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Many blocks have rules on lift booking and working hours, so check with the managing agent before fitting day.
In London, the route into a home matters as much as the room, so we look at both at the measuring visit.
Whitechapel: For an older house near St Mary Matfelon, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Church of St Botolph, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
Before and after fitting day
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Look at whether your lease needs consent for alterations
- Measure the gap between the wardrobe wall and the bed
- For a flat, measure the stairs, landings and lift
- Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need
Fill the rails gradually and spread the weight along them instead of crowding one section. Very heavy coats sit best on a shorter rail.
Every so often, check that nothing has worked loose.
Do you need fitted wardrobes?
After a loft conversion, the new bedroom typically needs storage that suits the slopes. Storage built into the slope uses space that would otherwise go to waste, keeping the room clear.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- A room too narrow for hinged doors
- Standard wardrobes that don’t fill the wall
- Wasted space beside the chimney breast
- A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
Materials and finishes
Spray-painted finish
A sprayed coat covers edges, corners and panels evenly. The colour is agreed at the design stage.
Hanging rails
Rails are placed so the top one is within easy reach without a step. Shelves above the rails hold things used less often.
Where other trades come in
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room.
How long are you in the house for fitting?
How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. We’ll talk you through what to expect beforehand.
How is the inside of the wardrobe planned?
You choose the mix of hanging, shelves and drawers. It can include long and double hanging, shelves, drawers and space for shoes, in the proportions you need. We talk it through during the design visit.
Is the furniture made to order?
It is made at our workshop, to the design and sizes agreed after the design visit. Then we bring it to your home and fit it.
Do I get to choose the colour?
The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you’ve chosen.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Do photos help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
