Furniture made for the room you have
London homes are full of spaces that standard furniture can’t use well: alcoves either side of a chimney breast, bedrooms with sloping ceilings, bay windows, the triangle under the stairs, low eaves in a loft conversion and kitchens that are long and narrow. Bespoke Carpentry makes fitted furniture and kitchens for those spaces. Everything starts with a design visit, where we measure the room and talk through what you need. We then send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it in your home.
We’ve completed more than 300 projects in London homes, from a single alcove unit to a whole kitchen. We work in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and finish everything by spray painting or hand painting in a colour agreed with you.

Fitting day
We fit it in your home, scribe it to the walls and finish the job.
Why choose us
- Design visit first. We see the room, measure it and talk through the design before we quote, so the quote is for your room.
- Made in our workshop. Your furniture is made in our workshop, then brought to your home and fitted by us.
- Built for London homes. Units are scribed to uneven walls, set level on sloping floors and made in sections that fit up narrow stairs and into lifts.
- 300+ projects completed across London.
- All of London. We work in all 32 boroughs and the City of London, with Saturdays by arrangement.
Materials and finishes
Moisture-resistant MDF is stable, takes paint well and suits kitchens and furniture on external walls.
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which makes it a good choice for long shelves, carcasses and drawer boxes. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
Spray painting is done in our workshop and gives a smooth, even finish. Hand painting can be done on site and is easy to touch up later. The colour is agreed with you.

Working in London homes
Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mansion block flats, interwar semis, post-war estates and new-build flats each bring their own challenges. Period walls are rarely flat, floors slope, and rooms have skirting, picture rails and cornices to meet. In flats, the furniture has to get up the stairs and into the lift before it reaches the room.
Parking is part of the job too. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so it helps to tell us about parking and access at the design visit.

Frequently asked questions
What happens at the design visit?
We visit your home, measure the room and talk through the design: what you want to store, how the room is used, doors, layout and finish. We also look at the walls, floors and ceiling, and at access for fitting. See what happens at a design visit.
Why don’t you show prices on the website?
Every piece is made for a particular room, so the size, the inside layout, the finish and the room itself all change the work involved. We quote after the design visit instead. See what affects the quote.
Where is the furniture made?
In our workshop. It’s then brought to your home and fitted by us.
What materials do you use?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. MDF is stable and takes paint well; birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits long shelves, carcasses and drawer boxes. See MDF vs plywood.
Can you fit furniture in a flat with narrow stairs or a small lift?
Yes. The furniture is made in sections sized to get up the stairs, round the landings, into the lift and through the doors. We measure the route as well as the room. See fitted furniture in mansion block flats.
Which areas do you cover?
All 32 London boroughs and the City of London. See areas we cover.
