Loft storage across Haringey: what to expect

A sloping ceiling leaves little room for a standard wardrobe. A wardrobe made for the slope follows its angle, with hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers lower down. It uses the full height of the room. We will plan it during the design visit in Haringey. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about an empty dormer that could hold shelves and nowhere to store bags and boxes.

However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.

  1. It starts when you contact us with some details about the loft.
  2. We come to measure the room and the way up to it, and discuss the design.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. Your storage is built in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour.
  5. We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

What goes into your quote

Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. It’s useful to talk about parking at the design visit, so we can plan for it.

Getting a quote

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, along with rough measurements. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Loft storage across Haringey: local notes

Homes across Haringey are full of odd corners, from stair voids to loft eaves. Each design is made to the space itself, then built in our workshop and fitted.

About 54% of the homes in Haringey went up before 1919, and about 13% since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. About 54% of homes in Haringey were built before 1919, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Loft conversions are common in London terraces, and they leave low eaves and sloping ceilings that storage can use. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 24% of households in Haringey, based on Census 2021. In a converted house, rooms can be odd shapes, with new partitions meeting old walls, and the way in often goes up shared stairs. A lease can require consent for alterations, so it is worth checking yours first.

Getting furniture into a London home takes planning, from narrow halls to lifts and parking, so we look at both at the measuring visit.

Tottenham: For a family home near The Mulberry Primary School, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. The wider area includes historic houses like Bruce Castle, about 0.3 miles west. For a period home anywhere nearby, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle.

Honest limits

It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Any work on the structure of the house
  • Building Regulations approval for a conversion
  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves

What prompts loft storage

A dormer can feel like wasted space. Shelves, a desk or a seat in the dormer make it useful. It uses space that’s otherwise empty.

Requests we hear often include:

  • An empty dormer that could hold shelves
  • A boarded loft with no proper shelving
  • Nowhere to store bags and boxes
  • Wasted space behind the knee walls

What it’s made from

Spray-painted finish

Spray painting suits angled panels and plain fronts alike. It is carried out in the workshop for an even coat. The colour is your choice.

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting can be done on site once the storage is in. Small marks are simple to touch in later. That suits a room in daily use.

Flats, conversions and lettings

In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways along with the room itself, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

What it costs

What you pay depends on:

  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

What to send when you contact us

When you contact us, these help most:

  • How you want to use the space
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you get furniture up narrow loft stairs?

We make the storage in sections sized for the route. At the design visit, we measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landings. It means a full wardrobe can still reach the room.

Do you move sockets or add lighting?

No. We are carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.

Do pictures help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form.

How long will the loft storage fitting take?

How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The storage is made in our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We keep the route up to the loft as clear as possible.

Who chooses the colour?

The choice is yours. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.

Can you make loft storage for a home in Haringey?

Yes. Our area is the whole of London: every borough and the City of London, Haringey included.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
