Our fitted wardrobes across Hounslow
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall. That leaves no gap above to gather dust and no wasted space at the sides. For a bedroom in Hounslow, we start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need. Typical reasons to get in touch are a sloping ceiling that’s hard to use and storage boxes stacked under the bed, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made at our workshop. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
- You get in touch about fitted wardrobes for your bedroom, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
- We visit to measure up and plan the doors, rails, shelves and drawers with you. Hinged or sliding doors are part of that conversation.
- You receive a quote setting out the design and the paint finish.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors.
How our quotes work
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. It’s useful to talk about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

Arranging a design visit
It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Fitted wardrobes across Hounslow: local notes
Homes across Hounslow, Feltham, Brentford and Isleworth among them, often have one bedroom that has to do two jobs. Fitted wardrobes can be planned so the room switches between them.
The biggest shares of homes in Hounslow were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 29%) and since 2000 (about 20%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted wardrobes are fixed and fitted. A quarter or more of the homes in Hounslow (about 29%) date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Houses from that era often have a box room over the stairs, with a raised bulkhead in the floor, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead. 11 of the 25 places in Hounslow with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, according to Historic England’s data. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission.
Homes across Hounslow range from period terraces to modern blocks, and we work in all of them. Wherever you live, it starts with a visit and a quote.
Hounslow: If you live in a period home close to Church of St Mary the Virgin, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. The wider area includes historic houses such as Osterley House, about 1.6 miles north. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Walls and floors in older homes are seldom straight or level. A standalone wardrobe can lean, rock or show tapering gaps. We set fitted wardrobes level and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
What to check before you book
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
- Will the quote be in writing?
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Real projects you can actually look at
Flats, conversions and lettings
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so it’s worth raising during the design visit.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
Do you need fitted wardrobes?
Sometimes it’s a change in how a room is used. Built-in storage makes the room work for its new role. Adjustable shelves let the inside change over time.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- Empty alcoves in the bedroom
- A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
- Condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall
- No space in front for doors to swing
When you need someone else
Before you plan the job, it is useful to know what we don’t do:
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- Redecorating around the wardrobes
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
What it is made from
Hanging rails
We keep the top rail at a height you can reach without a step. Shelves above the rails hold things used less often.
Hand-painted finish
A hand-painted finish often suits wardrobes in older houses. The colour is agreed with you, and touch-ups are simple.
Questions from Hounslow
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You do not need to watch us work, but it’s useful to be around at the end.
Will fitted wardrobes get up the stairs to my flat?
Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, then assembled in the bedroom. Let us know if your block has lift or concierge booking rules.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front, while sliding doors save space but only open part of the wardrobe at a time. We talk through both at the measuring visit.
Will you paint the walls around the furniture?
No. We do not plaster or decorate, so any work on the walls is for a plasterer or decorator. The furniture is finished by spray or by hand, as agreed in your quote.
Is the furniture made to order?
We make it in our workshop. Then we bring it to your home and fit it.
Can a fitted wardrobe go against a cold wall?
Yes, as long as it is ventilated. An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, so we plan airflow behind and within it.
