About bespoke kitchens in Ealing

Many people want a tall larder for food, tins and small appliances. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, planned around what you store. Built into an alcove or the end of a wall, it puts awkward space to work. Most enquiries start with a layout for a small or awkward room and extra cupboard space; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.

  1. To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the room and the kitchen you have in mind is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. A quote in writing follows for the cabinets, materials and finish. Plumbing, gas and electrics aren’t part of it: those are for your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
  4. We build the cabinets, doors and drawer fronts in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. On fitting day the cabinets go in, scribed and set level, ready for your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer to do their part.

What goes into your quote

Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking during the design visit.

Getting a quote

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Bespoke kitchens across Ealing: local notes

In older homes across Ealing, kitchens are often in a back addition with walls that are far from square. The cabinets are scribed and levelled so the lines run true. Plumbing, gas and electrics are handled by other trades.

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 30% of the housing in Ealing, with about 28% built before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Around a third of the homes in Ealing (about 30%) date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Many houses of that era have had the kitchen extended or knocked through, so the cabinets are made for today’s layout. Of the 19 places we have local pages for in Ealing, 4 have their centre inside a conservation area, according to Historic England’s data. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission.

Controlled parking zones cover large parts of London, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

Ealing: For a flat near Ealing Broadway station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. For families living near Ealing Independent College, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier.

Practical tips

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:

  • List what needs a home in the kitchen
  • Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
  • Talk to your other trades in good time
  • Check stairs, hallways and lifts for access

Wipe up spills and splashes promptly, especially around the sink and dishwasher. Even moisture-resistant materials last better when kept dry.

Choose your appliances before the design is finalised. Their sizes shape the cabinets, so late changes can be awkward.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Ealing

What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. The main factors are:

  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • The internal fittings
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Parking near your home

Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Getting in touch

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Examples of the look you are after
  • Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
  • Your postcode and the borough

Getting a quote starts with some details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. To send them, get in touch through our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Could you do it yourself?

The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, and standard units leave gaps.

Flats, leases and landlords

If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so let us know about it during the design visit.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you get in touch.

What it is made from

Spray-painted finish

With a spray finish, the painting is done in the workshop, so there’s less to do on site.

Plinths and scribe strips

These details are what make a kitchen look built for an older room.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Ealing

Do you cover areas outside London?

No. We work in London and nowhere else.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

What if the stairs or lift are small?

We plan the route in at the design visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

Will you paint the walls around the furniture?

No. We do not plaster or decorate. We finish the furniture itself, as set out in your quote.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

Can you build an island in my kitchen?

If the room is big enough, yes. We measure at the measuring visit to check there’s room to walk round it and open doors, and suggest another layout if it would crowd the room.
