Our loft storage across Hammersmith and Fulham
Sloping ceilings make standard wardrobes hard to fit. A wardrobe made for the slope follows its angle, with hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the room’s height. We’ll plan it at the measuring visit in Hammersmith and Fulham. Typical reasons to get in touch are space under the eaves going to waste and a new loft conversion that needs storage; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
- It starts with some details from you.
- At the design visit we measure up and agree the layout and colour.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- The storage is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and sprayed there if you chose a spray finish.
- We fit it in the loft and check each door and drawer with you.
- Fresh paint needs time to cure, so use the doors and drawers gently at first.
What goes into your quote
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, which the quote allows for. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space.

Fitted storage across Hammersmith and Fulham
Older homes in Hammersmith and Fulham often hide useful space behind tricky shapes. Eaves cupboards can follow the slope of a staircase or a ceiling, or the line of a bay. Each piece is fitted to the room as it is.
Homes built before 1919 make up about 56% of the housing in Hammersmith and Fulham, with about 16% built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. About 56% of homes in Hammersmith and Fulham were built before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Loft conversions are common in London terraces, and they leave low eaves and sloping ceilings that storage can use. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 26% of households in Hammersmith and Fulham, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. Conversions often leave rooms in unusual shapes, with partition walls, boxed-in pipes and chimney breasts in odd places, and the way in often goes up shared stairs. If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before anything is fixed to the walls.
Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges. Let us know about parking at the design visit.
Fulham: For an older house near St. Peter's Church, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even. Fulham Palace, about 0.7 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.
When is bespoke worth it?
Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: flat-pack is usually cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.
When you need someone else
We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, so these points are worth knowing:
- Electrical work in the loft
- Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
- Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
Flats, leases and landlords
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.
Boards, parts and paint
Doors and drawer fronts
Any door that gives access behind the knee wall can look like the others. It opens fully, so the space behind can still be reached. Around it, the fronts can be drawers, doors or a mix.
Pull-out drawers
The space behind a knee wall is deep and low, so drawers that slide out are often the answer. You see everything at once. We plan them around any access the eaves need.
Pricing loft storage in Hammersmith and Fulham
The price for your room depends on:
- The number of doors and drawers
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Spray painting or hand painting
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Getting in touch
A few details help us understand the job before we visit. It is useful to include:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Your postcode and the borough
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit. To arrange the visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Common questions about loft storage
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
Walls and floors that are not true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
Do you carry out loft conversions?
No, the conversion itself is not our work. We design and fit storage once the room is in place, including eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers and wardrobes.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
How much does loft storage cost?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. For a quote, message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Will you paint the walls around the furniture?
No. Plastering and decorating aren’t part of our work. We paint the furniture itself, by spray or by hand.
How do you get large pieces into a loft?
Every piece is made in sections that fit up the stairs. At the design visit, we measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landings. That way, even a large wardrobe can reach the loft.
