Our bespoke kitchens across Wandsworth
Some kitchens suit a dresser, with cupboards below and open shelves above, and in a period house it can look as if it has always been there. We make dressers to fit the wall they stand against, scribed to follow it and painted to suit the room. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a central island in a larger kitchen and a pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers.
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it is going into, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook.
- At the design visit we measure up and plan the cabinets around the worktop, sink and appliances you choose.
- A written quote follows for the cabinets, materials and finish. Plumbing, gas and electrics aren’t part of it: those are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.
- The cabinets are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day the cabinets go in, scribed and set level, ready for your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer to do their part.
What goes into your quote
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Getting a quote
Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Kitchens across Wandsworth
For kitchens across Wandsworth, a larder cupboard or dresser often adds the most storage. The cabinets are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
Homes built before 1919 make up about 44% of the housing in Wandsworth, with about 21% built since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. About 44% of homes in Wandsworth were built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Older houses often have narrow kitchens at the back, with floors that slope, so each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site. Purpose-built flats are home to about 48% of households in Wandsworth, the 2021 Census shows. For a flat, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
We work across all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, and Wandsworth is part of that. Wherever you are, the job starts with a design visit.
Clapham Junction: For a flat near Clapham Junction station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. Near listed buildings like Church of St Mark, under half a mile south of the centre of Clapham Junction, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
Looking after your furniture
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. These habits help most:
- Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
- Think about how the cabinets will get in
- Make sure an island won’t crowd the room
- Share the layout with your other trades
The appliances you’ve chosen come with their own care instructions, and the worktop you chose will have its own care advice too.
It’s useful to know which appliances you want early. Their sizes shape the cabinets, and changing them later can mean changing the units.
What affects the price in Wandsworth
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- The internal fittings
How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
What we need to know
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. A written quote follows the visit for you to look over. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Ready-made kitchens are widely available and often cheaper and they suit many newer homes. In an older house with uneven walls, they tend to need filler panels and leave gaps. Bespoke is a bigger investment, built around the space you have.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
The problems bespoke kitchens solve
Many people come to us because a standard kitchen does not suit their room. Standard units are made in fixed sizes, and the gaps get filled with panels. A bespoke kitchen is made to the room from the start.
Most of the enquiries we get are about needs like these:
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
- Making the most of a galley kitchen
- Open shelves with cupboards below
- Room for everything in the kitchen
Could you do it yourself?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t normally do that in an older room.
Questions we’re often asked
What are the kitchen cabinets made of?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.
Is there room for an island in my kitchen?
If there’s enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we measure for it at the design visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.
Do you work in Wandsworth?
Yes. Wandsworth is part of the area we cover, as part of our work across all London boroughs. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
We plan the route in at the design visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and each section is made to a size that will get through.
Will you paint the walls around the furniture?
No. Our work is the furniture, not the walls. We finish the furniture itself, as set out in your quote.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. Leases vary, and some need consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on your lease.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.
