About walk-in wardrobes in Brent
Some people want doors on everything; others like open shelves and rails. Doors give a tidy, finished look and help keep dust away, and open rails make it quick to find things. We’ll go through the options during the design visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are hanging for coats, dresses and shirts and room for a growing wardrobe, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
- We start with the room you have in mind and what needs a home.
- We visit, measure up and plan the layout with you, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
- A written quote follows, covering the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- Everything is made and finished in our workshop.
- The units are fitted in your home and trimmed to follow the walls.
What goes into your quote
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

How to get a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.
What’s near Kilburn
The streets we cover here include those near Maida Vale School, Marylebone Boys' School and St Anne's and St Andrew's. Nearby too are Queen’s Park (within half a mile west), Salusbury Primary School (within half a mile west) and The Brondesbury Arms (a few minutes’ walk south-east). There’s a railway station in Kilburn itself: Queens Park (London) station. A little further out are Paddington General Hospital (1 mile south) and Brent Museum and Archives (1.3 miles north-west). Not far away are Greville Place nature reserve.
Walk-in wardrobes for homes across Brent
If your bedroom in Brent has a chimney breast, the alcoves either side are natural places for storage. In rooms without one, a full wall of storage often works best. Either way, each piece is fitted to the walls and floor as they are.
The biggest shares of homes in Brent were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 32%) and before 1919 (about 28%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. About 32% of homes in Brent date from between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Houses from that era often have a box room over the stairs, with a raised bulkhead in the floor, a good spot for fitted furniture built around the bulkhead. 29 of the 29 places in Brent with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, going by Historic England’s records. The rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission.
In London, the route into a home matters as much as the room, so we look at both during the design visit.
Kilburn: If your home is one of the older houses near St Anne's and St Andrew's, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. For a family home near Salusbury Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.
When you need someone else
We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:
- Electrical work in the room
- Building a new partition wall
- Plastering, decorating or flooring
Flats, blocks and rented homes
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls at the measuring visit.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit.
Materials and finishes
Hanging rails
We plan rails for full-length garments and for double hanging to suit your clothes.
Moisture-resistant MDF
MDF stays flat and paints beautifully, in any colour you choose.
What it costs
Not every room costs the same, and it comes down to:
- The width and height of the space
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Parking and unloading on your street
- How many doors and drawers there are
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We will talk through what you need inside during the design visit, then set it out in the quote.
Helping us understand the room
A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Think about whether you want doors
- Know what you’ll keep before planning
- Count your coats and long garments
- Deal with any damp walls first
We adjust doors and drawers as part of the fitting. Houses move a little with the seasons, so hinges allow small adjustments later.
Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. We cannot advise on your lease.
Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Brent
How much does a walk-in wardrobe cost?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?
Yes, where the room is large enough. A section of the room can become a dressing area, with doors or left open. Any new partition is for your builder, and we fit the furniture.
How long does fitting take?
The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations. We cannot advise on leases, so please check yours.
Do you fit lighting in walk-in wardrobes?
No. New lights and wiring are for your electrician. We design the units so the lighting can fit in, and agree the details at the design visit.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
