About bespoke kitchens in Westminster
An island can be a good addition where there’s space for one. We check there’s comfortable space on every side, and in a narrow kitchen an island can make the room harder to use. Where space is tight, a peninsula or a longer run may suit better. Most enquiries start with spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets and making the most of a galley kitchen, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as we will have talked about during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook.
- We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
- A quote in writing follows for the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register.
Quotes in Westminster
Awkward rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.

Bespoke kitchens for homes across Westminster
Across Westminster, including City of Westminster, Marylebone and Soho, kitchens come in every shape. Cabinets are made for the room you have, built around your chosen worktop, sink and appliances.
The biggest shares of homes in Westminster were built before 1919 (about 49%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 15%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. More than a third of the homes in Westminster (about 49%) were built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Kitchens in houses of that age often sit in a narrow back addition, with walls and floors that are not true, so cabinets are scribed and levelled on site. About 70% of households in Westminster live in purpose-built flats, according to Census 2021. For a flat, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
Homes across Westminster range from period terraces to modern blocks, and we work in all of them. Wherever you live, it starts with a visit and a quote.
City of Westminster: If your home is one of the older houses near St Mark's, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Close to Hyde Park? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.
What affects the price in Westminster
What you pay depends on:
- The internal fittings
- How square the room is
- Spray painting or hand painting
- How many doors and drawers there are
We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Getting in touch
What helps most when you first contact us:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Approximate measurements of the space
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it. For a quote, get in touch through our contact form.
Flats, leases and landlords
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.
Could you do it yourself?
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t typically do that in an older room.
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.
Do you need bespoke kitchens?
Older kitchens often lack storage. A larder or tall units can change how much you can store without crowding the room.
Requests we hear often include:
- Room for everything in the kitchen
- Making the most of a galley kitchen
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
- A kitchen island with room around it
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Standard cabinets come in set widths, so the room has to fit the units. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall.
What to check before you book
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
- How the doors are hung and adjusted
- Will the quote be in writing?
- Have they thought about parking near you?
Common questions about bespoke kitchens
How is the furniture painted?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
Does my lease affect fitted furniture?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations. We cannot advise on leases, so please check yours.
Do pictures help?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Do you do plastering or decorating?
No. We do not plaster or decorate, so any work on the walls is for a plasterer or decorator. We finish the furniture itself, as set out in your quote.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Is there room for an island in my kitchen?
Where space allows, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we measure for it at the measuring visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.
How long will the kitchen take to fit?
It depends on the kitchen. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.
