Bespoke kitchens across Lewisham: what to expect
Our bespoke kitchens are fitted in Lewisham and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and go through the layout, then a quote in writing. The cabinets are built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you can plan around it. Most enquiries start with tall larder storage and a dresser that suits a period house, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it is going into, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
- You get in touch with some details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
- We visit, measure and go through the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
- You receive a written quote.
- Everything is built in our workshop.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.
How our quotes work
Rooms that are not square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.

Starting with a design visit
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

The streets we cover here include those near Laban Centre, Fordham Park and St. Paul's. There’s a railway station in New Cross itself: New Cross station. Nearby you’ll also find Lewisham Shopping Centre (1.1 miles south-east) and Miller General Hospital (0.6 miles north-east). Not far away are New Cross Gate Cutting.
Bespoke kitchens for homes across Lewisham
Kitchens across Lewisham range from narrow galleys in terraces to open-plan rooms in newer homes. Cabinets made to the room’s real sizes use every bit of the space.
In Lewisham, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 36%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 18%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 6 of the 22 places in Lewisham with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, going by Historic England’s records. The rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones, so let us know about parking at the design visit, and we will plan the van around it.
Getting furniture into a London home takes planning, from narrow halls to lifts and parking, so we look at both at the design visit.
New Cross: For families living near Myatt Garden Primary School, a drawer set aside for lunch boxes and water bottles keeps mornings calmer. Queen's House, about 1.5 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Where other trades come in
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:
- Connecting sinks, taps and dishwashers
- Electrics, sockets and lighting (your electrician)
- Making good walls and ceilings
Pricing bespoke kitchens in Lewisham
Prices vary from room to room, for these reasons:
- The width and height of the space
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- Doors and drawers, and how many
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
What to send when you get in touch
What helps most when you first contact us:
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- Any ideas or images you have saved
- How you want to use the space
We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To book a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Flats, conversions and lettings
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Tell us about them at the design visit.
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.
Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Lewisham
Flats with tricky kitchen walls are another reason. We can design for a galley, an alcove or a corner, so every run is used.
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:
- Room for everything in the kitchen
- A larder for food and small appliances
- An island where space allows
- A layout for a small or awkward room
Questions we’re often asked
How is the furniture painted?
You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
Do you supply the worktop and appliances?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Will you connect the sink and appliances?
No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, and we design around where their work goes.
Do photos help?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations. We cannot advise on leases, so please check yours.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a quote in writing.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
